Poem, Writer's Blog

Summer Mornings

Sun’s rays gently creep between

My curtains not shut tight

Its warmth and light caressing me

Chasing away the night.

The morning’s chorus has begin

With songs of many birds

While tiny flowers open to show

Their beauty to the world.

Down below, out in the street

Children begin their play

With so many friends for them to greet

There is no school today.

Shades and shorts and summer shoes

No need for coats this morn

A sunhat, parasol perhaps

It’s sure to be quite warm.

Life seems so much better when

The days are bright and breezy

A smile, a wave, “hello” and then

The mood today is easy.
