Daily Life, Poem

Loved You, Lost You

An all-consuming sadness, hovers daily at my door,

Watching, waiting, wondering; will I bow to it once more?

Emotions in a turmoil, surely time enough has passed,

Grief has no agenda; will it end or will it longer last?

❤️

I raise the phone to speak to you, as so many times before,

Then realise with such sorrow, its something I can do no more,

I wonder, when the last we spoke, during that final call,

Did you sense it, did you know, that no more words we’d share at all?

❤️

I see your face before me, it’s there most every day,

For you are staring back at me, from the mirror as I gaze,

It’s oft been said we look alike, from childhood to the end,

I fought it fiercely many years, your youthful looks became my friend.

❤️

Through all your pain and suffering, I thought I was prepared,

But as your beating heart lost pace, I felt so fearful, frightened, scared.

Around me they’re gently hovering, so many words unsaid,

I yearn a sense of closure, to calm this chaos in my head.

❤️

I’d ask just one more time again, to hold your withered hand,

But one would turn to more, I know, to say goodbye I’d not withstand,

Acceptance, wrap me in your warmth, I hope it’s one day soon,

I know you’re out there, watching me, among the stars beneath the moon.

❤️❤️❤️

Poem

Close Your Eyes

Close your eyes, yes, shut them tight,
Let good thoughts wander in,
For when you think of times with me,
The good times are where you should begin.
***
Don’t dwell on loss or sadness,
Push sorry thoughts away,
Ponder, still, the happy times,
When we had fun, could laugh and play.
***
The time to grieve will come to pass,
The time for feeling blue,
Don’t let it overtake your world,
Remember, I am still with you.
***
Feel me in your heart and soul,
Feel me by your side,
Wherever you may wander,
My love for you will be your guide.

Poem

By Your Side

Don’t feel your life is over,
I am merely out of sight,
Don’t give up life, for time is short,
I’ve just wished you ‘goodnight’.

Our time on Earth together,
Such wondrous days we shared,
But now you cannot see me,
Your heart and soul feel bared.

I’ll always be here with you,
Feel me in your heart,
I’ll always be right by your side,
I never will depart.

I’ll wander here beside you,
As long as you will need,
The comfort from my loving heart,
My presence you will heed.

So when your grieving’s over,
When you feel less sorrow,
Remember I am always with you,
This day, and all tomorrows.

Kite flying, Poem, Writer's Blog

Flight of the Kite

I cannot lie – I took this idea from a fellow poet as I loved the shape of some of her poems. Thank you for the inspiration, Kim from Writing In North Norfolk.

This is it in word format because my mobile formatting makes a mess of it..

Flight of the Kite

                                                              A

                                                            Kite

                                                       Flying High

                                                 Soaring in clouds

A break in the blue sky

                                       Silently diving and swooping

Tension on line, a dead stillness

                               Settling, its rhythm gentle, smooth,

Bobbing at the end of the line, just waits,

A pull, a twist of the wrist, send it diving low,

A wrist flick, a jerk, paint the sky with loops,

                            Repeat, making patterns, response fast,

Buzz from the line, hearing the winds,

                                  Slow the descent, landing begins,

Gently, to grass, let it rest now,

                                          Its flight over, now ended,

                                             A long tail follows lazily,

                                                    Fluttering, it falls,

                                                      Flight doomed

                                                              Now folds,

                                                             Into

                                                               Its

                                                           Holdall.

                                                            Day Over

Remember

Remember, now, the laughter,
As we ran down to the sea,
Remember how we rolled down hills,
How carefree, then, we used to be.
***
Remember, now, the children,
How much love we had to give,
Remember, they still need your love,
There’s so much life you’ve yet to live.
***
Remember when you told me,
Forever, we would be,
Remember how we promised, then,
It would just be you and me.
***
Remember, now that life has changed,
I’ve had to leave too soon,
Remember, when you’re searching,
I’m the twinkle just beyond the moon.
